Dating and Body Language
One of the most important things to remember about dating is that it's not always in what you say or how you say it, but how your body reacts when you say it.
Many people dismiss this as being in any way important but it is something that has a lot of importance when meeting someone either for the first time or for the first time on a one to one basis.
Many of us know the feeling of meeting someone in a bar or nightclub for the first time and trying to impress them but therein sometimes is the problem. It is better not to try and impress them and be yourself rather than try to be trendy and cool and perhaps make a wrong move or say the wrong thing.
Indeed many people will tell you that it is not what is said but what is done in terms of body movements.
Hands
When meeting someone for the first time or dating on a one to one basis the first important thing to remember is your hands. Many of us are very emotive and use our hands as a means of expressing ourselves. This is fine if you are talking to someone you have known for a long time but if you are talking to someone you have just met or are socialising with for the first time, then this can be a disconcerting trait.Try to keep your hands still, or at least limit their movement, and don't be too touchy-feely.
Eyes
They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul and although this may not be exactly true there is an element of credibility to it. Many of us can tell what another person is thinking simply from looking into his or her eyes. Indeed many of us can tell if we are being lied to simply by looking at how we are being looked at. Some people will not look at you if they are telling a lie or they are not interested in what you have to say. And contrary to popular belief this is nothing to do with how a person physically appears. The Mouth
The mouth says more than you think; especially when there are no words coming from it. An individual can speak volumes with their lips by licking them with their tongue, biting on their lip or resting a finger against them. Many see the mouth as being used in a suggestive way during the flirting process and indeed experts say this is very true.Combinations
It is important to remember that when you are on a date there are elements of all the aforementioned which come into play. We each of us have our own unique character traits which involve us rolling our eyes, biting our lips, tugging on our ears, or a combination of all of the aforementioned.Again we should be aware that our bodies tell more about us when measured in conjunction with the words that come out of our mouths and just as we are watching others for tell-tale signs so they too are watching us.
